The following is an In Character blog entry by my WOD character. None of its real, its all made up.

So we started filming this week on episode 13. Finally got the go ahead from the network after two months. It’s going to be about the “Black Beast of Belfast”. Woo scary. Probably just another local legend about a devil dog like Black Shuck or the Beast of Bodmin. We got a timeslot at the old hanger to do the intro this morning.
Skyborn hammed it up as usual. Sometimes it’s difficult to tell whether he takes it seriously or not. It was the old dusty library intro again. The usual old books and dim mood lighting. Anyway got a long drive ahead of us. Figure its going to take 2 or 3 days to drive from Toronto to Belfast, Maine.

So this is Belfast. It’s a quite little town. Looks quite nice at sunset. You’d never expect that a “creature of blood curdling terror” lived here. :-)Got some good stock shots of the town after dark, most of the place was shut up. Suppose we can slant it that everyone’s living in fear and no one goes out after dark.Got some prelim concept sketches of Black Paw done. Not quite happy with the design personally. It’s a little too, well demonic. Looks more like something out of a werewolf movie than a ghost story. Which is apparently the angle we’re going for. I’m gonna download some images of timber wolves to see if I can get a better reference model. We’re staying in some little B&B just of the marina. It’s a nice enough place and the owner agreed to do a stint in front of the camera. Better call it a night. Gotta be up early for some sunrise shots and day views of the municipal buildings.

Just stopped for a bite to eat in the diner. Belfast is a lot livelier during the day. Its gonna be difficult getting the right atmo with all the people going about their daily business as if nothing is happening. Spotted a good location out by the Unitarian Church. Shoot it at night with some dry ice for fog and it’ll make a great creepy shot.Pulled the bike out of the trailer to get some distance between me and the boss. He’s been up to his arms in small-town politics. Getting permits for the shooting and stuff. Skybourne’s been doing the research thing most of the morning. We really need to get a new intern to do this crap. Just gotta make sure that JJ doesn’t break them this time. There’s some really creepy woods on the outskirts of town, especially by the river. Thought I spotted something a few times out of the corner of my eye. Probably nothing. Gotta meet Skybourne at the library for some shots.
Nice day of shooting. Got a good few hours worth of footage in the process of being transferred to hard drive. Taking an early lunch in the Belfast Arms while the laptop does its business. It’s a family restaurant type bar so it’s pretty quite.Been doing some more work on the animatics for BigPaw. Boss okayed the general design, based on a large black wolf. Rather than going for the usual red eyes, we’re gonna go for feline eyes that reflect light in the same was as a cat. It’s actually quite spooky. Here comes Sky, looks like he’s got a lead.
Seems like the lead is a girl called Lisa. Apparently she’s a fan of the show and a mythology student to boot. Kinda cute too. Be a shame to blur face out like we usually do to interviewees.
That’s interesting, the owner of the manor farm on the outskirts of town owns 2 thirds of the land in Waldo County. His sighting was what brought us here. Apparently he died a couple of dies ago. His heart gave out is what people are saying. Reckon we can twist it so that he died of fright after seeing big paw. Turns out that he sold most of his land to a company called Synergistics. Their one of these bin conglomerates that you don’t here about. Not sure how we can use that but apparently the town has a new landlord.
Finally back at the hotel. Been a busy night. First filmed an interview with Lisa in the park. Chose a bench with some bushes behind it. We’re gonna digitally insert some blinking eyes in the bushes in post prod. Implying that *something* was watching us. Sky’s gonna have one of his internet aliases point it out on the boards the day after broadcast. The old insert a ghost that we didn’t see when filming ploy. Also did a couple of variations on an encounter with black paw. One with Sky tracking it, another with the boss in his Steve Irwin get up acting as a local. “guide” and the third Blair witch style. The “what the hell are we doing chasing phantom dogs in the rain” spiel from sky. Each end with a snap zoom on something doglike silhouetted on a hill in the distance.
Just finished an artist’s impression of Big Paw. Really impressed. Took me about two hours but I think I really captured the essence of the story we’re trying to get across. Damn, got be up at dawn tomorrow.

Finally finished the shoot. Got a dawn shot, the empty school, and a quick shot of some bar where the scared locals are no longer coming. Used up all out tapes and memory cards by four o’clock. Boss is settling the bill with the hotel, Sky is chatting up Lisa leaving me to load the van. Again. It’s a living I suppose.Got an email from dad. The Panthers beat NSCC at hockey last night. Go Panthers!
Looks like we’re giving Lisa a lift back to Bangor.

It started to rain really bad after we left Belfast yesterday. Had to drive real slow. About an hour out of town … something happened. We all saw a black shape, dog like with eyes. Gold but rimmed in blood. A car coming in the opposite direction swerved in front of us and we flipped of the road, rolling down an embankment into some trees. I swear we died, I felt it. Then everything was back to normal. I screeched the van to a halt. Sky turned to check on Lisa and the Boss and screamed. Lisa’s head was all messed up. Look like she’d been whacked with a sledge hammer in the face. On been in a car crash. None of use were hurt and the van was just as dented as we left it.Boss called the cops and Sky fed em some story about how we found her on the road but didn’t realise she was dead until we started moving again. They believed him. Guess he’s a good actor afterall. I need a drink. Lots of em.
